LVN: Acute Mycocardial Infarction

Course Information

Every year, approximately 700,000 Americans have a myocardial infarction.  This course will provide an overview of the signs and symptoms, interventions, medications and care for patients who have been hospitalized for a myocardial infarction.

This course has been approved the California Board of Vocational Nursing for for 1 Contact Hour.


  1.  Explain modification that could reduce the chances of a myocardial infarction
  2. Discuss medications and interventions that help with recovery after a myocardial infarction
  3. Explain the signs and symptoms of myocardial infarction

Course Instructor

Maryrose Espil, RN, MSN has more than 25 years experience in the health care field. She started training as a nursing assistant as a teen and has worked as a CNA, Certified Home Health Aide, Licensed Vocational Nurse and Registered Nurse in various health care settings. She received her Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from Excelsior College in 2012. She enjoys teaching and developing curriculum while working as a registered nurse in direct patient care.
